OUR STORY

A FAMILY LEGACY

Our story begins in the Colombian mountains in 1995 with Carlos Vera Dieppa, a pioneer in Latin American textile design who, with the help of a local coffee-sack weaver, develops a unique weaving technique where he intertwines local, organic threads to craft unusual fiber-rugs. It is years later, however, when he decides to customize his own looms and add metal threads to these rugs, that his technique becomes a revolutionary legacy

TOMÁS AND CRISTINA

After Charlie’s passing in 2010, his son Tomás and his daughter Cristina decide to honor his life and legacy by bringing back his craft. Through a renovated brand concept, the siblings craft an idea that even today, speaks of Colombia and its heartwarming traditions. They call this idea “VERDI” as an ode to their late father’s last names: Vera Dieppa.

OUR CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Tomás Vera is the Founder and Creative Director of VERDI, a Colombian textile studio where heritage and innovation converge. Since establishing the studio in 2010, he has brought a fresh and thoughtful vision—honoring Colombia’s artisanal traditions while reimagining them through a contemporary lens. Influenced by his father, Carlos Vera Dieppa—who pioneered the fusion of fique fiber with metal threads—Tomás has built a multidisciplinary practice rooted in craft, but in constant dialogue with architecture, design, and emotion.

Under his creative direction, VERDI has evolved into an international reference for artisanal luxury. The studio's pieces, crafted with natural fibers like fique and alpaca interwoven with copper or stainless steel, strike a balance between timelessness and bold innovation. With Tomás at the helm, VERDI continues to push the boundaries of Colombian design, weaving memory, material, and meaning into each creation.

VERDI TODAY

"...exceptional and sustainable craftsmanship, the truest expression of luxury."

VERDI is recognized for its handwoven creations that blend natural fibers with metal threads, redefining the possibilities of contemporary craft. From rugs and organic-silk cushions to plantain-fiber curtains and silver-plated handbags, every piece reflects a commitment to tradition, innovation, and sustainability. Over the years, VERDI has collaborated with fashion designers like Johanna Ortiz, global icons such as Cartier, and leading architecture and interior design studios across the world. The studio’s work has been showcased internationally, with four consecutive participations at Salone del Mobile in Milan, as well as exhibitions at Design Miami, Amangiri, and Frieze Los Angeles. VERDI has also been twice featured in Surface Magazine’s "THE LIST" as a brand shaping the future of design, and its collections have been available through Bergdorf Goodman, Moda Operandi, and Net-A-Porter. Today, VERDI continues to grow as a multidimensional studio, crafting homeware, fashion, and art pieces that embody refined craftsmanship and cultural storytelling.
