THE VERDI HANDBAG

“VERDI handbags are unique, timeless Colombian heirlooms meant to transcend trends and be passed on throughout generations.”

By reinventing Colombia’s ethnical mochilas into modern bucket bags, unique wristlets, and other sophisticated silhouettes, VERDI preserves the original mochila shape and name but re-thinks its traditional technique and materials. At our workshop, we use plantain fiber, organic silk, fishing line, leather, and silver-plated metals to craft bags that take up to 10 days to be knitted by hand or hand-woven on looms. These heirlooms are testaments of quality and luxury.

OUR HANDBAG COLLECTIONS

HERITAGE

Our VERDI Mochila has become an intriguing symbol of Latin American flair. As the ultimate heirloom to be passed on from generation to generation, it reinterprets heartfelt traditions and conveys exceptional skill. Each piece takes around 15 days to be hand-knitted in Colombia with copper or silver-plated threads and is later enhanced with silk and linen linings, gold hardware, and other details.

With the finest, silver-plated threads and an intricate craft known only to masterful hands, this luxurious heirloom results in a unique work of art exploring material and color transitions and reminding us that with every sunset, sunrise, and moonlight, comes an opportunity to reset.

“There’s so much scope with all the amazing fabrics already out there,” says Natasha Fernandes Anjo, founder and designer of Roop, which makes upcycled satin and cotton bags (from £75, selfridges.com), based on the Japanese furoshiki (the brand now has additional styles), that look like little presents. The aforementioned Verdi bags (£637, available to pre-order, verdi.com.co) are an elevated version of the traditional mochila arhuaca. Hand-woven over 10 days, they have a luxe hippy vibe".

"Es momento de decirle adiós a la masculinidad frágil y admitir que existen bolsos para hombre con los que podemos complementar nuestro estilo. Romper con la barrera de los géneros tradicionales es una tendencia que cada vez se vuelve más fuerte. Ahora ya no importa si la pieza fue pensada para hombre o para mujer, si te gusta te la pones y la portas con seguridad".
