PRODUCTION & PROCESS
HAND -MADE / IN-HOUSE
Having always maintained an inherently responsible production through our hand-made process and conscious approach to design, sustainability has always been at the heart of our studio. Over the past few years, VERDI has also actively delved into projects and practices that enable additional social and environmental responsibility.
MATERIALS
We use natural fibers such as plantain fiber, organic-worm silk and other finely sourced materials for our bags.
SOCIAL RESPONSABILITY
OUR WORK WITH ARTISANS IN OUR WORKSHOP
We directly employ over 30 highly qualified individuals- whose expertise is the result of generations of practice- under upmost working conditions and a positive work environment.
OUR WORK WITH FAMILIES IN CURITÍ SANTANDER
We support over 19 families of farmers in Curití, Santander where we source our main fibers.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSABILITY
ECO FRIENDLY DYE PROJECT
As part of our commitment to the environment, we developed a series of eco-friendly dyes that guarantee no environmental footprint, the dyer's welfare and longer color durability
NO DEFORESTATION
During harvest of fique fiber, only the external leaves of the plant are extracted hence allowing for continued crop growth and no deforestation.
CIRCULARITY
VERDI frequently uses fiber and textile waste to either craft new pieces and samples or to decorate shelves at VERDI homes and headquarters. Our copper residues have been donated for the assembly of important sculptures by local artists.
PATTERNS AND RE-USE
We implement reusable acrylic patterns to avoid paper waste and re-invented residue of our bags into thimbles for weaving.
