TOMÁS VERA
If there’s something that has been well discussed over the past year is how, challenging times, also bring evolution. And how, in times of crisis, creativity flourishes.
In my case, the personal and professional difficulties that prevailed during the first months of the pandemic, forced me to question myself and actively seek for new creative angles out of a genuine desire for change. I wanted to continue being faithful to VERDI’s iconic reinterpretation of contemporary and traditional, and to our inherent mix of fibers and metals, but through a new concept that would ideally feel more in tune with the stillness, the self- confrontation, the new meanings of connection, and this need for reinvention that these times have brought. AES was born, and with it, a new way of understanding VERDI’s materiality. This time, our different materials do not intertwine with each other, but instead overlap and generate more linear and contemporary dynamics, aimed to translate balance, harmony, and purity. Much needed values in today’s context.
