THE VERDI TREE OF LIFE
The sole visit to our workshop is an immersion into Colombian tradition; an intimate glimpse of our country’s techniques, feats and passions. The artisans at work, the hand-built and recovered looms, the fiber weaving and the metal knitting, make for beautifully chaotic scenery. Across the street from this workshop, resting behind contrasts in an unassuming and industrial neighborhood in the city, also lies VERDI’S TREE OF LIFE.
The TREE OF LIFE started with an idea that Tomás had in 2013, when after a trip to Mexico with his mother, he learned about the Mexican tree of life and how significant its concept was for several world mythologies. After ruminating on the idea for several years, he envisioned VERDI’s tree and had it made into a render that would eventually become a reality. Six years later, it did, and “The VERDI Showroom” was built to exhibit it. The tree embodies our three studio pillars -home, fashion, and art- and resonates with ancestry and our connection to the past, all while emphasizing on VERDI’s material identity through the tree’s copper trunk and loose fique threads.
